Is it safe to send your child for this training?
The honest answers to what parents actually ask us at the counter, on WhatsApp, and during visits to our training centre — not a reassurance script.
If your child has come home excited about a cruise ship career and you’re the one lying awake with questions, that’s not you being difficult. That’s you doing your job. Here are the actual answers, the same ones we give in person.
Why this worry is completely reasonable
A career that has your child leaving India for months at a time, on a ship, is a genuinely bigger decision than a local job. And this space is crowded with both real training institutes and people running fee-collection scams dressed up in identical language. Wanting proof, not just reassurance, is the right instinct. Any institute that gets impatient with your questions is telling you something about itself.
Five questions parents ask us most
1. Is this a job-guarantee agency?
No. We’re a training institute. We train, screen in-house, and support placement. Course completion doesn’t by itself guarantee cruise-line employment, and we’d rather say that plainly now than have your child hear a different story later.
2. How do we know the fees are genuine?
Ask for the fee structure in writing before you pay anything. Any institute that won’t put it in writing is telling you something.
3. Can we visit before enrolling?
Yes. Come and see the kitchens, service rooms and where training actually happens, together, before any decision gets made.
4. Who will our child work for?
If hired, the employment contract is signed with the cruise line, not with the training institute. You should see the employer’s name, the wage and the contract length before your child signs anything.
5. What if our child is not ready at the screening?
They hear it from us first, and we keep training them. We don’t put unready candidates in front of a panel. That protects your child as much as it protects our own name.
Come and visit together
Honestly, this is the single best thing a parent can do before any enrolment decision. Walk through the actual kitchens and service-training rooms with your child, meet an instructor, and ask every one of the five questions above out loud. A visit to the training centre tells you more in thirty minutes than any brochure or phone call.
What to verify yourself, before you decide
Not questions to ask the institute this time — things you can check without needing anyone’s permission or cooperation.
- Look up the business registration independently. A genuine institute has a GSTIN you can check against the government GST portal, separate from whatever they tell you.
- Check the training centre address on Google Maps, not just the number on a brochure. Street View and location-specific reviews tell you more than a name search.
- Ask to speak to a current student’s parent, not just read a testimonial. A phone number a genuine institute is comfortable sharing, with that family’s consent, is worth more than any quote on a website.
- Visit without much notice, if you can. A training centre that looks the same on a random Tuesday as it does for a scheduled tour is telling you something real.
None of this is about distrust for its own sake. It’s the same due diligence you’d want before any decision that sends your child out of the country for months at a time — and a genuine institute understands that completely.
What to watch for at any institute, not just us
The same five questions apply everywhere you consider, not only here. If you want the fuller list of warning signs around cruise recruitment scams, we’ve written that out separately in our article on checking whether a cruise job offer is genuine. Worth reading together with your child before any final decision.
I’ve sat across the table from enough worried parents to know that the ones who ask the hardest questions end up the most reassured. Because they got real answers, not a sales pitch. Ask us anything.
